Investigation and Litigation Support Services
NFPA 921, Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigation, and recent court decisions significantly changed the landscape of fire investigations. Gone are the days when an investigator could rely on experience alone to justify opinions. Now the application of the scientific method is required and conclusions and opinions must be backed up with science. Our team has been trained to perform a complete investigation, examining not only the cause and origin but what the conditions were that allowed the fire to spread beyond the initiating item. Our approach looks to minimize the total exposure to our client by breaking down the loss as an insurer would do and systematically evaluating areas of exposure.
We have extensive experience in commercial, industrial and residential occupancies. Our team uses a comprehensive approach that includes fire protection, chemical, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers in addition to others whenever necessary. Our staff has been involved in numerous major incidents including: BP Texas City, Buncefield, West Pharmaceuticals, Sago Mine, and a multitude of others.
Electrical Engineering
Packer Engineering offers litigation support in areas including loss due to electrical accidents, safety analysis, cause and origin determination, and accident reconstruction. Our engineers also assess technology and intellectual property by demonstrating proof-of-concept, analyzing conflicting intellectual properties, and testing prototypes. Litigation support services covers areas of:
- Patent and warranty disputes
- Product performance
- Safety assessment
