Anand R. Shah, P.E.
DirectorMr. Shah, a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois, consults in the areas of plastic failure analysis, material selection, product design evaluation, and characterization of polymers, elastomers, and polymer composites. His areas of specific expertise are in polymer failure mechanisms and structure property relationship in polymeric material. Mr. Shah manages projects involving a broad range of products, equipment, and structures such as: underground tanks, plastic pipes, automotive parts, plumbing, medical devices, power tools, wood-plastic composites, glass fiber reinforced plastic composites and other consumer products. He has experience in litigation support and expert witness testimony.
Mr. Shah received his Masters Degree from the Macromolecular (Polymer) Science department at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Ohio in 1997. He has worked on over 500 failure analysis cases. He was actively involved in technical investigations and failure analyses that required the use of many laboratory analysis techniques, including optical microscopy, fractography, electron microscopy, non-destructive, and destructive evaluation and chemical analysis.
Mr. Shah has authored technical papers on various types of polymer failure mechanisms including fatigue, creep, impact, chemical stress cracking, environmental stress cracking, and stress rupture. He has presented his work at professional society conferences. He was an instructor for a Failure Analysis and Prevention seminar coordinated by the Society of Plastics Engineers. He has served as the moderator at the Annual Conference for the Failure Analysis and Prevention Special Interest Group of the Society of Plastics Engineers. He has published his technical work in the International Journal of Fracture, Journal of Material Science, Journal of Polymer Science, and the Journal of Applied Medical Polymers.
