Gareth Digby, Ph.D., C.Eng., FIET
DirectorDr. Gareth Digby is a Professional Engineer who consults on all aspects of systems engineering related to electrical, electronic, communications and computer systems in the power, railway, telecommunications and defence industries. Included in his area of expertise are the specification, design, test and application of electrical, electronic and computer systems as well as their risk and failure analysis.
Prior to joining Packer Engineering, Dr. Digby was with Thales Land & Joint Systems. His responsibilities included systems engineering and architectures for tactical military communications systems.
Before that, while at Exponent, Inc., Dr. Digby was responsible for failure analysis investigations and rapid development projects involving electrical, electronic and computing systems.
Whilst consulting with Numerical Objects Ltd, Dr. Digby was responsible for system design and integration issues with a telecommunication and power system protection system on the Jubilee Line Extension. Prior to that, he managed railway system delivery for the Northern Line Renewal of London Underground Limited.
As a consultant at Rust Kennedy and Donkin, Dr. Digby was responsible for traction power supply design, from concept to contracting documents for power supplies for rolling stock, signalling and passenger stations for London Underground Limited.
Dr. Digby holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Wales Swansea. He has extensive university teaching and research experience in power systems, computer systems and electronics. Dr. Digby has held lectureships at University of Wales Swansea and University of Birmingham.
Dr. Digby has published several technical articles and has presented at various technical symposia. He has served as Chair, Deputy-Chair and as a member of various Institution of Electrical Engineers committees.
Dr. Digby is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland. He is also a Chartered Engineer registered with the UK Engineering Council and a European Engineer registered with the European Federation of National Engineering Associations. Dr. Digby is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology. Dr. Digby has the Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) certification from EC-Council and has the Certified SCADA Security Architect certification from the Information Assurance Certification Review Board.
