Jeffrey S. Williams

Technologist

Mr. Williams has over 20 years of experience in the field of litigation support including scale model building, fixture design and construction, product testing and design, setting up and conducting laboratory testing, photographic interpretation, cad drafting and design, and CNC machining.

Since joining Packer Engineering in 1991, Mr. Williams has served as the senior model maker. He incorporates knowledge of hand and power tools, materials and construction techniques to create custom displays and scale models used to convey complex technical information. These displays and models include: 2D and 3D displays for accident reconstruction, the design and construction of mechanical and electrical systems that provide motion and lighting to scratch-build models, new product prototypes, design and crating for extremely fragile legal artifacts, and custom furniture building and design.

His ability to design on the fly has been critical in fixture building for engineering testing including: fireproof fixtures for plastic gas tank testing and camera fixtures for the ISAU house burn demonstration, fixtures for mechanical, electrical and chemical testing conducted at Packer Engineering, and the metal solidification research fixturing that flew on NASA\'s microgravity flight program. He is knowledgeable in using computer-aided drafting to help design models and displays, convert field sketches into site maps, and to determine dimensions from photos using vanishing line perspectives. Mr. Williams\'long-term workshop experience has been drawn upon for consulting in cases where tools have been involved in injury accidents.

Mr. Williams is currently working on increasing Packer Engineering's computer-controlled machining capabilities by acquiring and learning Feature Cam CNC software. He is a member of the Association of Professional Model Makers and has certificates in Catching Fluid Power basic fluid power training, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Physiological Training Program with 25,000 foot Chamber Flight and Rapid Decompression as required for Microgravity Research flights, and Naperville Community Television studio and field production. He has driven various types of lift trucks, flown 160 parabolas in the NASA Microgravity program; and served as manager for the Packer Engineering model shop, artifact storage facility, and the Packer Engineering Laboratory Management Team. Prior to joining Packer Engineering, Mr. Williams ran his own model making business in Naperville, Illinois.
