John E. Myers, Ph.D., P.E.

Technical Vice President

Dr. Myers is heavily involved in both industrial testing and accident investigations of a variety of devices and systems. Dr. Myers has been involved in a wide range of industrial testing and analysis work, including both consumer and industrial products such as cookware, garage door openers, exercise and leisure equipment, high pressure temperature seals, pressure relief valves, shock absorbers and power-operated doors. He has participated in accident investigations and reconstructions related to exercise equipment, farm equipment, material/personnel lifts, automotive products, construction equipment, industrial machinery, power-operated doors, ladders and consumer products.

Prior to joining Packer Engineering, Dr. Myers worked for Amoco Oil Research and Development in a variety of areas, including internal combustion engines, retail gasoline service station equipment and compressed natural gas vehicles and dispensing systems. He developed state-of-the-art emissions measurement facilities, studied additive and fuel effects on engine performance and worked on a range of service station equipment issues, including helping to lead Amoco's efforts to certify a proprietary vapor recovery system. He also directed a cooperative project to develop next-generation CNG refueling systems.

Dr. Myers' graduate work centered on piston ring/cylinder lubrication and measurement of the associated oil film thickness and surface temperatures in an operating engine. Dr. Myers is the author of several technical papers, has developed software for analyzing emissions data and has served as a reviewer of publications and session co-organizer for SAE.

Dr. Myers is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin.
