Kevin L. Jones, P.E.
Director
Mr. Jones consults in the areas of failure analysis, accident investigation and reconstruction, material evaluation and product testing. His areas of specific expertise include metallurgy, steel processing, welding and joining, heat treatment, mechanical testing and failure analysis of materials.
His undergraduate studies concentrated on the traditional metallurgical and materials engineering with an emphasis in ferrous physical metallurgy. His course work included an emphasis on mechanical metallurgy, failure analysis of materials, manufacturing processes and material design.
Prior to joining Packer Engineering, Mr. Jones spent six years at Ispat Inland Inc. At Ispat, Mr. Jones held several engineering and management positions. His work there involved performing technical investigations, failure analysis, developing proprietary thermal mechanical rolling practices, consulting customers to improve product performance and was responsible for all mechanical testing. Through his work experience at Ispat, Mr. Jones was exposed to such areas as cold drawing and heading, forging, machining, steel making, heat-treating and mechanical systems.
During his undergraduate studies, Mr. Jones spent two years at Case Inc. At Case, Mr. Jones performed failure analysis investigations on construction, farm equipment and diesel engines. Mr. Jones also helped implement an on-line plant wide MSDS intranet-based system.
Mr. Jones has been involved with automotive and diesel service for 12 years, where he focused on diagnosis and repair. Mr. Jones is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Illinois.
