Director, Structural Engineering
Mr. Chute is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Michigan and Ohio. Mr. Chute is also a Licensed Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois. His areas of investigative practice are building structures, architectural engineering, site construction, building design and construction services. Mr. Chute practices the investigation and analysis of building structure performance, building materials, construction products, building envelope performance, structure vibration, structural failures, building distress, and collapse. Mr. Chute also has extensive knowledge of building codes (ICC, BOCA, UBC), code referenced design standards (ASCE, ANSI), material design codes (such as AISC, ACI, PCI, etc), industry design standards, design coordination and construction practices.
Mr. Chute’s design experience includes new construction, expansion, renovation, and reinforcement strengthening of educational, office, medical, laboratory, industrial, entertainment, retail and residential facilities. Mr. Chute has designed many unique, complex and award winning buildings in teams collaborating with multiple design and construction disciplines.
Mr. Chute is familiar with building structural systems and special structural considerations including exterior envelope support, floor design for vibration sensitive equipment, long span roofs, lateral load resisting systems including wind and earthquake loads, progressive collapse, site structures, foundation types including piles and retaining walls. Mr. Chute is experienced in analysis and design of structural steel, reinforced concrete, precast concrete, cold formed (light gauge) metals, masonry, and wood. His architectural systems knowledge includes curtain wall systems, metal wall systems, masonry veneers, precast panels and stone.
Prior to joining Packer Engineering, Mr. Chute performed the analysis and design of complete structures for institutional, medical, industrial, commercial and residential buildings. He has been responsible for the structural design along with architectural and utility design coordination, existing structure analysis for expansion or renovations, structure reinforcing design for renovations, analysis and design for testing and medical laboratory equipment, construction administration, on-site construction observation and resolution of construction conflicts.
