Maureen J. Murray

Senior Director, Engineering Mechanics

Ms. Murray joined Packer Engineering in 1989.  She consults in a wide variety of projects relating to the analysis and design of mechanical systems. Her areas of expertise include investigation, analysis and reconstruction of automotive and industrial accidents, as well as simulation and animation of dynamic systems, finite element analysis, vibrations of mechanical systems and reliability analysis.

Ms. Murray has developed dynamic simulation models of various mechanical systems, including several link and sprocket mechanisms using both two- and three-dimensional computer codes. She has used computer animation techniques to create visualization models, as well as animation of engineering concepts and accident reconstructions. Her finite element experience includes the stress analysis of engine and suspension components and reducing and correlating test data to finite element results. She has also developed simulation programs to predict the fatigue life of operational components.

Prior to joining Packer Engineering, Ms. Murray was a research engineer at the Borg Warner Automotive Research Center working in the dynamic simulation and stress analysis areas. Ms. Murray has also worked as an engineer in the stress analysis group of the Allison Gas Turbine Division of General Motors. She also taught undergraduate courses in fluid mechanics and engineering graphics at the University of Illinois.

Ms. Murray has developed numerous computer programs using various computer languages and codes running on several different platforms. She has worked with the ANSYS, PATRAN, ADAMS, Working Model, Pro/Engineer, DRAM, ACSL and FORTRAN computer codes and has used Cray, VAX and IBM computers, as well as Unix-based workstations. She has given several technical presentations on her research efforts.
