Maureen J. Murray
Senior Director, Engineering MechanicsMs. Murray has been with Packer Engineering since 1989. She consults in a wide variety of projects relating to the analysis and design of mechanical systems. Her areas of expertise include: investigation, analysis and reconstruction of vehicle, industrial equipment and machinery accidents; analysis of mechanical systems and machinery; simulation and animation of dynamic systems; stress analysis, finite element analysis, and vibration analysis of mechanical systems; reliability analysis; and intellectual property investigations including the evaluation of mechanical mechanisms and machinery for patent infringement and invalidity issues.
Ms. Murray’s experience includes evaluating and testing a wide variety of mechanical systems and machinery including hybrid vehicles, ATVs, farm machinery, forklifts and material handling equipment, construction machinery and equipment, mining equipment, sports and fitness equipment, industrial machinery and conveyor systems, as well as automotive, trucking and aviation related equipment. She has developed dynamic simulation models of various mechanical systems, including several chain link and sprocket mechanisms. She uses computer animation to create visualization models and animation of engineering concepts and accident reconstructions. Her finite element experience includes the stress analysis of engine and suspension components and reducing and correlating test data to finite element results. She has also developed simulation programs to predict the fatigue life of operational components.
Prior to joining Packer Engineering, Ms. Murray held a position at the Borg Warner Automotive Research Center as a research engineer, specializing in the dynamic simulation and stress analysis areas. Ms. Murray also worked for General Motors as an engineer in the stress analysis group of their Allison Gas Turbine Division. She has taught undergraduate courses in fluid mechanics and engineering graphics at the University of Illinois.
